With two routes for wedding invitations, custom and semi-custom, brides often ask ‘What exactly can you customize on a semi-custom invitation?’ Here’s a hint: with Lively Letter Co., it’s a lot more than you think and definitely more than you can customize with other pre-made invitations at places like Shutterfly, Minted, or more commercial vendors.
Our goal is for your invitations to feel like your own, no matter which option you choose.
For semi-custom invitations you can choose to keep the design as-is or you can change any or all of these 6 elements.

Information
Okay this one seems obvious.. of course we’re going to put in your information, but many brides forget that the wording of the invitation is completely editable and up to you! You can opt to keep the wording on the current invitation or make it as unique to your event as you like. Check out our free wording guide for some inspiration!
Fonts
If you prefer a modern calligraphy vs. a bold sans serif vs. a traditional calligraphy font we’re happy to make the change for you! We can even give you a couple options if you’re unsure of what is best for your wedding.
Colors
We can completely customize the colors of your invitation to match your exact wedding colors! You’re not stuck having to pick from a couple of pre-made color schemes on a website.
Small special details
One of our favorite questions to ask brides is if they want to include anything unique to their relationship on the invitation. This is a great way to make a design truly personal! In the past we’ve included things like a hill where the fiancé proposed and the brides’ favorite flowers. We love to include your special touch at no extra cost [as long as it doesn’t alter the overall design of the invite.] Not sure if something counts as a small detail? Ask us and we can discuss whether it can be incorporated onto a semi-custom design or if you would be better served by a bespoke design.
General Layout
Similar to the last one, we’re happy to adapt the layout to your liking. For example, maybe you prefer the invitation to be horizontal instead of vertical or maybe you want the names larger and at the top instead of in the middle.

Upgrades and Add-Ons
If you’ve been dreaming of gold foil invites- we want to make your dream a reality! If you love a suite but think it would be stunning with a vellum overlay – we can make it happen! Upgrades are available for all of our semi-custom suites and it’s a great way to take your invites to the next level. Full disclosure: unlike the other customization options mentioned, these ones come with an added cost for printing, but depending on what you choose, it may still come to less than the cost of a fully custom design.
