You’re not the only one who has been dreaming about your wedding day for years. Chances are, your mother has too! I’m the only girl in my family and even before I was engaged my mom was slowly gathering things for bridal showers (yes, seriously!), so I know that my wedding was a big day for her, too.
It’s important to not forget mom in the midst of planning everything. We came up with a few ways you can include her, and I can guarantee that she will love having a special place of honor in your day!
Oh and don’t forget that Mother’s Day is coming up – letting her know how you plan to include her is a great way to show her you care! We’re giving away a free printable Mother’s Day card to help you spread the love!
Go Shopping for her Mother of the Bride Dress Together
Your mom will want to look her best on your wedding day, so go shopping with her and make a day of it! Take her shopping or, if online shopping is your thing, spend a night in with her and I’m sure she will love the time together. You can also include her in your pre-wedding pampering like getting your nails done. She knows how busy you are so that time will be extra special.
Something Borrowed
One perfect way to honor your mother is to use something from her wedding day. Maybe this is her dress, a locket, a hair piece, or jewelry. For me, it was my mother’s pearl necklace. It was the perfect accessory for my dress and it was so special to be wearing something of hers throughout the day.
Be sure to capture those Mother-Daughter getting Ready Photos
Whether you have your photographer coming early for getting ready photos or not, be sure to capture these precious moments! They are some of my favorite photos of the day and it was so comforting to have my mother there with me when it really started to feel real. I know my mom loved having that special moment, too, and the photos to remember it.
Walking Down the Aisle
More and more often Mother’s are walking the bride down the aisle along with the Father of the Bride or another loved one. If you are really close with your mother or aren’t concerned with tradition, consider having your mother walk you down the aisle. It’s a huge honor and something she would love.
Write her a Special Note
You know how brides and grooms are writing each other cute love letters to read before walking down the aisle? Why not write one for your mom, too! It’s something she can keep and reread when she thinks of the day her little girl got married, and it’s a great way to thank her for everything she’s done to get you to that moment.
Showcase her wedding photos.
Create a little display at your reception to showcase your parent’s wedding photos and the photos of other relatives. It is a sweet way to honor her and the marriages that have come before yours.
No matter how you choose to honor your mother, be sure to thank her. Not just on Mother’s Day, but in the little moments when you remember just how much she means to you. I guarantee it will make her heart happy to be reminded that she is loved and appreciated. Don’t forget to grab your free Mother’s Day Card here!
